Sanyan is one of the founding colours of Aso Oke derived before technology from the domestic wild raw silk which required that thousands of moth cocoons be collected and their silk yarns carefully unraveled and spun into thread.
Modern Sanyan is made from imported threads with the color mimicking that gotten from the raw silk.
